NCLEX-RN®
Exam Preparation
The
NCLEX-RN® is the
national exam which has to be taken by all nurses who want to work in
the United States, including nurses educated in the United States.
Based on
the experience of many international nurses we have worked with we can
recommend various options to help you prepare for the NCLEX-RN test.
How to obtain a nursing license in Texas
Once you
have decided that you want to work as a nurse in the United States we
will help you to obtain the necessary documents to work in the US.
Following is a brief overview of the process to obtain
the required credentials to be able to work as a nurse in the US.
We recommend
that you initially obtain a nursing license in the state of Texas.
If you have a nursing license in Texas you can obtain a nursing license
by endorsement in several other states.
The first step is to
evaluate your foreign
nursing degree
to determine if it is equivalent to a degree obtained in
the United States. In most states (including the
State of Texas), this will be done by organization
such as
CGFNS
International
or ERES.
This process will take 6 to 8 weeks.
The results of this evaluation
will be sent to the
Texas Board of Nursing.
Based on these results, the board will decide if your degree is
equivalent to the US nursing degree.
If it is, you can apply for a
Texas state
nursing license
and take the
NCLEX®-RN exam.
This is a comprehensive exam to test your knowledge of
nursing. The same test has to be taken by all US
nurses. The
NCLEX®-RN exam
is offered in Mexico City as well as many cities in the
United States including San Antonio, Texas. Before you apply
for the state nursing license you also need to pass an
TOEFL English test.
Once you pass the
NCLEX®-RN exam
and
a criminal background check, you will be issued a
state
nursing license.
This process should take 5
to 6 weeks.
The
last part of the credentialing process is to obtain what is called a
VisaScreen™ certificate.
This will take 7 to 9 weeks.
Once you have obtained
the
VisaScreen™ certificate we will assist you in finding
employment in reputable hospitals in Texas, other US states or possibly
even other countries.
